The reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. By the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.”
(Catechism of the Catholic Church)
Did you know Confirmation is required in order to serve as a Godparent or sponsor? Or that you are to be confirmed prior to marriage in the Church?
Baptized Catholics, 18 years and older, generally prepare for this sacrament through a series of classes offered each year. If you are baptized but have not been confirmed, it is NEVER too late to prepare. The ages in our classes range from 18 to 80.
Please return the completed registration form and the Answer Sheet to the Survey of Catholic Beliefs and Practices (see links below) to Elizabeth Lyons at the Parish Office. We will then contact you to schedule an interview so we can discern your preparation needs. We design the program each year based upon the needs of those in the class and the survey results give us a starting point to determine the overall needs of the particular group of participants.
Confirmation this year is currently scheduled for June 2, 2016.
